Kagen began his legal career at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, working within the Emerging Companies Practice. There, he advised startups and growth-stage companies on a variety of corporate matters, including over $90 million in debt and securities offerings, company formations, employee equity compensation plans, and compliance issues.
Following his time at Wilson Sonsini, Kagen transitioned to BYUtv, where he took on a more specialized role focused on media and entertainment law and business development. He led negotiations with major technology platforms such as Samsung, Amazon, Vizio, and LG to secure app placements and content distribution deals. In addition to platform negotiations, Kagen played a key role in supporting the legal team on talent agreements, production contracts, co-production arrangements, and content acquisition deals.
Kagen graduated with a J.D. cum laude from Brigham Young University (2021) where he also received an MBA and was on the BYU Law Review. He earned a B.A. in International Business from Westminster University. Kagen is admitted to practice law in Utah and California.
